Kyle/David, 2024
Paper Size: 11.66x14 inches
Edition of 10
Inkjet print produced by Light Work and signed by the artist.
"Kyle/David", 2024 juxtaposes two portraits—one made and one found. The work reflects on how intimacy and identity are mediated through images, collapsing the distance between self and other. The drawn image of David is the logo 1980s gay magazine of the same name—references Michelangelo’s statue and its enduring status as a queer icon and symbol of idealized masculinity. The name David served as a stand-in for the contributors who wished to remain anonymous. By re-presenting these photographs in dialogue, "Kyle/David" explores photography’s capacity to both preserve and project desire, memory, and recognition across time.
